![]() ![]() ![]() We chose to do the ‘Extinct’ escape room experience which is run from the Tenpin bowling alley is Southampton. There was a fair bit of running and crawling around involved and I simply loved it! We genuinely forgot where we were, and filled with competitive spirit, enthusiasm and good team work we managed to complete it 5 minutes over time as someone (me) needed the toilet part way through! This particular room only had a 35% success rate so we were pretty proud of our achievement! We were filled with nostalgia from watching the crystal maze as kids with a great mix of cryptic puzzles and communication was key to this! We loved it and can't wait to come back and try another! ![]() With this experience lasting 90 minutes you really get your money's worth and it really puts your brain to the test. It did not disappoint!ĭrew Bridger our host was immediately in character and was an absolute hoot - making the whole experience so much more funny and immersive in relaying the rules and aiding us with a few clues along the way. This was our first time doing an escape room and we had heard great reviews about Houdini being one of the best. My partner decided to take me to here for my birthday. ![]() Thank you Houdini’s for living up to the hype, we can’t wait to come back!! A few jump scares in the room, but nothing too extreme to scare younger players. It’s fun, inventive, and most of all entertaining. When I expect escape rooms this is what I always imagined. And we even received a small prize for getting out. We managed to escape with 2 minutes to spare, the end game chat was wonderful and allowed questions. We had to split up a few times but that made it more fun when finding new parts of the game. They say the game isn’t linear but we felt there was a slight structure to it, which made us feel like we were part of a movie. Without saying too much of the actual game for spoilers, there was a wonderful mix of physical and mental challenges. He displayed the perfect balance of helping us in the game, giving us nudges in the right direction and helpful clues, but he did not play the game for us which was much appreciated. James (Aqua-man) is a real credit to the company, not only did he have bags of energy, but gave us a great introduction and chat putting us at ease and guidance in the game. It’s not only surpassed it, it gave us the most thrilling hour with so much laughter and a few screams. After hearing so much about the company I really wanted it to live up to expectation. I could not fault a single part of our experience at Houdini’s, we played Extinct as a trio for a birthday treat. I would recommend to others but make sure you can put your bag down and leave time for the waivers! Overall we really enjoyed the experience despite the little issues. We also got a little souvenir at the end too. Luckily we got out with a minute to spare and picked the right egg so we all felt really happy. There were bits that made us jump and the elements were all really well done. A bit unfortunate! Despite all that, the room was really good, and even though there were so many of us, we all had a part to play. And my last issue was that the guy told us there would be somewhere we could leave our bags but there wasnt and we ended up doing the room in our bags and coats. We had to sign waivers beforehand too which I understand but it did slow things down a bit. It would have been appreciated if I'd be asked this quietly if there was any issue. I then explained that I'd paid for 8 and the hen went free as part of the deal. I was a bit surprised when we got there and I was asked to pay for the extra person in front of the group. I also emailed in the week to check everything was still Ok with the booking, and they confirmed it was. I had booked quite a while ago as I needed to find an escape room that would accept 9 people, and they said the Extinct room could fit 9. I came here with 8 others as part of my best friends hen do. ![]()
